We are seeking a talented Department Manager to join our team and play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our department. In this role, you will foster creativity and knowledge sharing, continuously enhance engineering practices, and oversee training programs. Your leadership will be crucial in managing talent, identifying and addressing skill gaps, and executing workforce planning strategies to meet project demands.

At Worley, collaboration is key. You will work closely with project teams and engage with our global organization to share best practices and contribute to developing global engineering standards.

You will lead a team of talented engineers, guiding their development, ensuring they are optimally allocated to projects and driving excellence in design, layout, and project support. Reports to VP Engineering. 

 

Discipline Development: 

- Overall accountability for a team of engineers within Piping Design, Pipe Stress, Pipe Support, Piping Valves, MTO engineers and Field/MC Engineers. 

- Continuously enhance the engineering disciplines within the Piping and Layout Department, driving innovation and best practices. 

- Foster a culture of excellence, creativity, and knowledge sharing among department engineers. 

- Implement and oversee training programs to keep the department up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies. 

 

Talent Management, Development and Workforce planning:  

- Provide leadership, mentorship, and support in talent development. 

- Identify talent gaps and implement strategies to address them, including recruitment, training, and development. 

- Develop and execute workforce planning strategies to ensure that the department has the right mix of skills and expertise to meet current and future project demands. 

 

Project Collaboration: 

- Collaborate closely with project teams to ensure the right engineers are assigned to projects, optimizing the allocation of resources. 

- Act as a bridge between the Piping and Layout department and project teams to facilitate effective communication and collaboration. 

- Monitor project progress and ensure that engineering deliverables meet quality standards and deadlines. 

 

Global Collaboration: 

- Work closely with Worley's global organization to facilitate collaboration on projects across different geographical locations. 

- Share best practices, lessons learned, and technical expertise with colleagues worldwide. 

- Contribute to the development of global engineering standards and processes. 

 

Accountability for Engineering Methods and Tools: 

- Ensure that engineering methods and tools are suitable, up-to-date, and implemented effectively within the department. 

- Collaborate with engineering teams to continuously improve and standardize methods, ensuring high-quality engineering outputs. 

 

Budget Responsibility: 

-Manage departmental budgets, including resource allocation and cost control. 

-Provide accurate financial forecasts and work to optimize departmental spending while maintaining quality and productivity. 

 

Qualifications: 

- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering or a related field. 

- Proven experience in a leadership or management role 

- Extensive competence within applicable laws, regulations, standards and Client requirements 

- Possess profound skills in one or more of the relevant disciplines 

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. 

- Project management experience is a plus.
