SIPRI’s Operations Department plays a pivotal role in advancing our mission of research and action on security, conflict and peace. As part of this department, the Grant Acquisitions and Development unit spearheads our fundraising efforts, collaborating closely with various departments to secure vital resources. The Grant Acquisitions and Development Officer is instrumental in enhancing SIPRI’s sustainability by identifying funding opportunities and ensuring high-quality funding applications. 

Job summary

This role involves close collaboration with colleagues across departments, from project inception to partnership establishment. Key responsibilities include identifying funding opportunities, coordinating fundraising efforts, managing contracts, and fostering a positive work environment. The role of Grant Acquisitions and Development Officer is vital to the smooth functioning of SIPRI, and its contribution plays a crucial role in supporting our mission and objectives.

Key responsibilities

  • Identify funding opportunities:
    • Scout and share funding opportunities
    • Assess programme needs and funding gaps in coordination with relevant departments
  • Coordinate fundraising efforts:
    • Coordinate application preparation, ensuring alignment with donors’ requirements
    • Prepare budgets and documentation for proposals
    • Keep donor information and channels of communication up-to-date
  • Manage contracts:
    • Review and manage legal documents related to partnerships and proposals
    • Ensure timely contract execution
    • Maintain communication with relevant departments
  • Systems development:
    • Improve CRM systems for donor engagement
    • Maintain databases for grant proposals and awards
    • Document lessons learned and develop reference materials
  • Engage in Institute life:
    • Participate in team-building activities and staff meetings
    • Foster a positive work culture and lead by example

Who we're looking for

Are you a highly organized individual with excellent communication skills and a knack for budgeting? Do you thrive when thinking analytically and have a passion for fundraising? We’re looking for someone just like you! 

Ideal candidates will have at least two years of experience in fundraising, contract management, budgeting and working in non-profit environments. Familiarity with international donors is a definite plus.

Proficiency in fundraising techniques, grant writing, budgeting, CRM systems and advanced Excel skills are essential for this role.

A bachelor’s degree in a relevant field is highly preferred, but equivalent relevant experience will be considered. Fluency in English is a must, and proficiency in other languages would be advantageous.

Application details

The position is full-time and permanent, starting on a date agreed mutually. We apply a 6-month probationary period and individual salary setting.
