At the School of Innovation, Design and Engineering our students are studying to be for example innovators, entrepreneurs, illustrators, information designers, network technicians and engineers. We have five research specializations with different research profiles and research schools. Our work takes place in cooperation with and in strategic agreements with companies, organisations and public authorities in the region.

Position description
The purpose of the position is to give the employee an early opportunity to develop his or her independence as a researcher and to create the conditions for further acquisitions of qualifications after completing the doctoral degree.The position is part of efforts to underpin the future supply of skills. The position is a temporary employment of maximum 3 years.
The position mainly involves research where the candidate will independently plan and conduct scientific studies in the field of production development.
The role of the post-doc includes scientific writing of articles, dissemination, and oral presentation of research results. An important part of the dissemination is to work actively with industrial applications in close collaboration with industrial partners.
As a post-doc, you are expected to take responsibility for planning and conducting your studies, take initiatives to develop your ideas and knowledge, and be able to collaborate with others both within and outside academia. Teaching or other assignments may be included in the position up to a maximum of 20%.
As a post-doc, you will also be part of the Production Development research group where you are expected to contribute to the development of the group.
Qualifications requirements
The applicant is required to have a PhD degree in production engineering, mechanical engineering, industrial economics, or equivalent. The applicant must have completed the degree no more than three years before the end of the application period. You have not previously held a position as a postdoctoral researcher in the same or related subject area at MDU that exceeds one year.
For this position, you should also have knowledge and understanding of industrial operations and their needs and challenges. You have very good oral and written communication skills in English at the level required to perform tasks in research and teaching. Specifically, the ability to write scientifically is crucial.
Assesment criteria
For this position, particular emphasis will be placed on the following:
- Knowledge of or experience in industrial production is highly meritorious.
- Experience from working with industrial applications and/or demonstrating applications in laboratory environments is meritorious.
- Knowledge of Swedish is highly meritorious.
- Proven experience of collaboration with people in different roles and environments, especially with business partners in industrial environments.
