Surface Coating Technician - PTA/Laser Cladding

Höganäs in North America is seeking a Surface Coating Technician for its ArcX surface coating technology center located in Tomball, TX.

About the position

The Surface Coating Technician supports the development of new Surface Coating concepts through defining suitable parameters and processes by running the cladding booth. Provides technical support on the different surface coating materials and perform related lab experiments as required.

Essential functions include:

  • Carries out all daily tasks related to the use and preventative maintenance required for the cladding booth.
  • Creates coated samples or parts as per planned trials.
  • Helps define tooling and plans coating trials in partnership with Coatings Engineers.
  • Loads and unloads deliveries using a fork truck.
  • Supports manufacturing in continuous improvement efforts related to surface coating products.
  • Interacts with other company facilities for surface coating powder and application development.
  • Understands the different surface coating processes and performs related lab experiments.
  • Maintains a safe working environment for themselves and others.
  • Actively exhibits leadership capabilities in all aspects of their work.
  • Displays conscious awareness of what is required to ensure a sustainable Höganäs.

Your profile

The successful candidate will possess the following qualifications:

  • A minimum of five years work experience in related cladding environment, with hands on experience operating a cladding booth, including PTA and/or Laser.
  • Ability to carry out basic maintenance on the booth, torches and related equipment.
  • Possesses a good knowledge of various coatings testing and assessment methods.
  • Experience with basic robot programming and metallurgical lab techniques is preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively present information.
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental requirements.
