Work assignments 

The position as professor in materials science is assigned to the Laboratory for Organic Electronics (LOE), Department of Technology and Natural Sciences. Research and education in LOE has a focus on electronically and ionically conducting organic materials with applications in a range of areas including, but not limited to, energy conversion and energy storage, printed electronics, photonics and bioelectronics. The holder of the position will lead an independent research activity in materials science with a particular focus on polymer electronics, e.g. development of multifunctional organic semiconductor materials with electrical and optical properties specified for various purposes, mainly in electronics and energy applications.

The research focus of the position involves the development of new functional polymeric materials with ion-electron-coupled functions, the development and application of additive manufacturing based on these materials, and the design of electronic and electrochemical components for advanced electronic systems that exceed the performance of conventional silicon-based electronics.

You are active in the research community, participate in the department's activities such as seminars and workshops, participate in research projects, communicate results via academic publications and contribute to attracting external research funds.

A teacher's duties may include taking care of education or research as well as administrative work. A teacher's duties also include following developments within their own subject area and social developments in general that are important to the work. Holders of employment as a professor must be able to participate in teaching within education at basic, advanced and postgraduate level.

The employment also includes teaching courses at doctoral and master's level. The teaching takes place in English.

You actively contribute to the university's development work. The collaboration is an integral part of the university's research and educational mission.

  • Collaboration in research takes place by disseminating, making available and making research useful.
  • Cooperation in education takes place by planning, organizing and implementing good education in interaction with actors from the surrounding society.

The duties include assuming the leadership role for polymer electronics within LOE. The leadership will entail line manager responsibility for all personnel within your unit and helping to manage and develop the LOE as a whole. In addition, supervision of master's students, doctoral students and postdocs in their research activities, project management (coordination of both national and international research activities with members from several of LOE's units) is included.

Your work includes following developments nationally and internationally in your subject area and societal developments in general that are important to your work.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who have demonstrated both scientific and pedagogical skills.

For this position, in the first place, special importance will be attached to the scientific skill, followed by (in descending order) administrative skill and leadership, collaboration in research, pedagogical skill and other skills that are considered equivalent.

Regarding scientific skill, the following will be assessed:

  • Requirements for employment are a PhD and a strong research background in chemistry or materials science
  • Requirements for employment are previous publication in recognized journals and conferences in the field
  • Particularly meritorious for employment is documented skill in collaboration within research.  

Regarding skill as a leader, the following will be assessed:

  • Requirements for employment are previous experience of leadership within the line organization and administration of own research projects
  • Particularly meritorious for the position is experience in managing organizational change.
  • Meritorious for the position is previous experience in leading researchers.
  • Meritorious for the position is insight into the Swedish higher education system and the research policy landscape.
  • Meritorious for the position is previous experience in industrial research and development

Regarding skill in cooperation, the following will be assessed;

  • Requirements for employment are the ability to disseminate, make available and make useful research through popular science production and dissemination, collaborative projects with external non-academic actors, external expert assignments, mobility projects, commercialization or assignments within the framework of permitted sideline work.

Regarding teaching skills, the following will be assessed:

  • Requirements for employment are experience of courses in organic and printed electronics
  • Requirements for employment are experience as main supervisor of doctoral students

Other skills that will be assessed for this position are:

  • Requirements for employment are good cooperation skills as well as good relationship-building skills and the ability to work in a team
  • Requirements for employment are good communication skills
  • Requirements for employment are multidisciplinary research in close collaboration with application areas

As teaching and research take place in English, you must be able to demonstrate the ability to teach and conduct research in English.

You will be employed at the department of technology and natural sciences and belong to the department Laboratory for Organic Electronics .

This employment is permanent, full-time. Starting date by agreement.
