We are now looking for a first research engineer in immunology.
The position
You will work on research projects where we study the underlying mechanisms involved in HIV´s immunomodulation of dendritic cell and T cell functionality using state-of-the-art methods. In addition, you will train new group members in methods and techniques used in the research group as well as participate in some teaching sessions.
The person we need
We are looking for you who have a PhD in immunovirology and post doc experience with a focus on HIV with a focus on immunovirology. The position requires documented experience in studies of HIV´s effects on primary cells such as dendritic cells and T cells.
We want you to have experience with the following methods and techniques:
- HIV infection
- Cultivation of dendritic cells
- Ex vivo HIV infection of mucosal tissue
- HIV-1 HSV2 co-infection model
- Priming of naive T cells
- RNA sequencing
- Spectral flow cytometry
- Purification and separation of immune cells from tissue
It is advantageous if you have experience with CUT & RUN.
The position requires very good knowledge of both spoken and written Swedish and English.
As a person, you are self-motivated and committed. You are characterized by good communication and collaboration skills and a responsive approach. Great emphasis will be placed on personal qualities.
The workplace
You will work at the Department of Molecular Medicine and Virology (MMV), in Marie Larsson’s research group that studies immunovirology with focus on the immunomodulatory effect that HIV has on immune cells and mucosal tissue. The MMV department consists of several research groups that conduct research on various signalling pathways and factors involved in cell differentiation and cellular functions as well as how viruses infect and affect cellular functions and our immune system.
The department is located at the Department of Biomedical and Clinical Sciences (BKV), which is one of the university’s largest departments with activities primarily within the medical faculty. Our goal is to conduct education and research in medicine and biomedicine, with high international quality. At BKV, you will find leading research with both cutting edge breadth within a large spectrum of modern biomedicine.
The employment
Fixed-term employment, full-time for three months.
Start 1 October 2024.
