We are now seeking a postdoctor to the Division of Vehicular Systems at the Department of Electrical Engineering (ISY). The position focuses on the charging of electrified vehicles and their interaction with the electrical system.

Work assignments

You will work on optimizing the charging of electrified vehicles. This includes planning when the charging should occur to be cost-effective for the vehicle owner, as well as analyzing the impact of the charging on the overall electrical system. Initially, you will work on a project related to bidirectional charging i.e. Vehicle-to-Grid, V2G. The project is conducted in collaboration with RISE, Volvo Cars, and E.ON. Linköping University's part in the project is primarily to find optimal charging profiles to maximize the benefit for various stakeholders in the system. Methods used include modeling, simulation, and mathematical optimization.

There will also be opportunities for new research directions during the employment. Examples of possible directions include battery swapping, charging infrastructure, and grid analysis for the future electric systems with increased degree of electrification.

As a postdoctoral researcher, you will principally carry out research. A certain amount of teaching may be part of your duties, up to a maximum of 20% of working hours.

Qualifications

To be qualified to take employment as postdoc, you must have been awarded a PhD degree or have a foreign degree that is deemed to be equivalent to a PhD degree. This degree must have been awarded at the latest by the point at which LiU makes its decision to employ you.

It is considered advantageous if your PhD degree is no older than three years at application deadline for this job. If there are special reasons for having an older doctoral degree – such as taking statutory leave – then these may be taken into consideration.

We are looking for a candidate with a PhD degree in electrical engineering or a related field with experience in simulation and optimization. Previous experience in vehicle modelling and electromobility is preferred.

You will work in an international and multidisciplinary team, collaborating with researchers and industrial partners from different countries and backgrounds. Therefore, you must have good communication skills and be proficient in written and spoken English.

The workplace

You will work in the Division of Vehicular Systems at the Department of Electrical Engineering at Linköping University. The division conducts research as well as undergraduate and graduate education in autonomous systems, electrification, battery systems, diagnostics and prognostics, and modeling and control of vehicle functions. Within the area of electrification and electromobility, we are currently expanding both our research and undergraduate education.
