We are looking for a research engineer for laboratory work within the department of Biomedical engineering.
Your work assignments
You will be part of a research project aiming to map metabolism in human liver and fat tissue, and to understand how the metabolism is changed in patients with metabolic disorders like diabetes and fatty liver. Your work will consist of cutting liver tissue with vibratom, culture liver and fat tissue ex vivo in different conditions (with different nutrients, hormone levels, etc), and perform measurements of metabolites and proteins. You will be part of a research group which includes specialists in metabolism, modern mass-spectrometry, and mathematical modelling. Data from your experiments will be used in projects for building mathematical models of liver and fat metabolism, with the long term goal of better diagnosing and treating metabolic disorders.
You will work at the Division of Biomedical engineering, in the system biology research group. IMT has a close collaboration with the medical technology industry and medical clinics we work to meet the needs in healthcare. Since 1972, we have been a national center for research and graduate and undergraduate education in medical technology.
We are looking for someone who has a diploma in cell and molecular biology, biochemistry, biomedical analysis, or similar. You should be experienced in laboratory work, particularly culture cells and tissues from animals and humans. We also believe that you have experience in common biochemical measuring methods, such as protein quantification, ELISA and blotting methods. You are probably used to working in a group, conscientious and efficient at organising your work, good at communicating in written and spoken English, and learn new methods easily.
