Skilled and committed employees are a crucial factor in the success of Linköping University. And we need more of them. Our core expertise comes from teachers and researchers, but a successful university requires experienced and motivated employees in many fields. Everyone is important. We need to recruit many new employees thanks to, among all, an expansion in our research activity. We need you here. We look forward to receiving your application!

The Department of Physics, Chemistry and Biology conducts research and offers education at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Research, the predominant activity, is often done in collaboration with corporate and international partners. We are one of the university’s largest, oldest and most well known departments, encompassing five interacting scientific fields: biology, chemistry, material physics, applied physics and theory and modelling.

LINKÖPING UNIVERSITY
Hereby advertises a position as

Postdoctor in Thin Film Physics,
formally based at Department of Physics, Chemistry and Biology (IFM).

Duties
The position concerns fundamental research in materials physics/materials chemistry, in particular experimental studies of laminated three- and two-dimensional (3D/2D) metallic and ceramic compounds. A focus is the synthesis of these materials; bulk (powder) synthesis, thin film (vapor deposition) synthesis, and chemical etching for the 3D to 2D conversion, evaluation of their structure and composition (XRD, SEM, EDX, XPS, TEM), as well as analysis of resulting properties. Key aspects are a fundamental understanding on the atomic level and the evaluation of electronic properties (band structure and electronic structure), which are crucial for applications within the areas of catalysis and electrochemistry.

An interest in nano science and fundamental understanding of materials is necessary for the position. The activities within the project will be closely connected to theoretical modeling.

A Postdoc will essentially carry out research. The position may also involve teaching, but during no more than a fifth of work time.

Qualifications
