Hereby advertises a position as

PhD student in Medical science formally based at the Department of Biomedical and Clinical Sciences (BKV).

Duties
As a PhD student you will primarily devote yourself to your research. As a PhD student you are limited devoted to work with education and administration up to 20 percent of full time.

As a PhD student you will participate in the project: “Long way to shelter: adolescent and young adult migrant experiences of migration with special focus on violence in close relationships, society and public places”

This project studies adolescent and young adult migrants. It aims to investigate experiences of different types of violence in close relationships as well as in the society and public places. Both qualitative and quantitative as well as child participatory research methods will be used.

Qualifications
Qualified to PhD studentships are only those who are or have been admitted to graduate studies.

Prospective candidates should have a strong background in topics regarding violence against children and child´s position in the society. This includes interdisciplinary educational background on living condition and socialization of children and youth such as Child and Youth Science (Barn- och ungdomsvetenskap). Prospective candidates should also have previous experience and documented interest with child participation methods. Experience in conducting interpreter-assisted qualitative and quantitative interviews with children, recruitment of non-Swedish speaking study participants, data management in excel and SPSS as well as other type of experiences in the topic violence against children is considered as a merit. In addition, previous research experience, employment at for topic relevant national competence center and/or NPO dealing with issues related to children’s rights as well as voluntary work with individuals subjected to violence are a merit.

Strong communication skills in English are required, as well as fluency in written and spoken Swedish. Candidates will be assed upon their ability to independently pursue his or her work collaborate with others in a multi-professional research group working with children. Great emphasis will be placed on personal qualities and personal suitability.

Candidates are expected to attach a short (max 2 A4 pages) research plan.

Appointment time
The appointment will be until further notice for a maximum of one year at a time. A doctoral student may not be employed during a period not exceeding eight years. The total time of appointment must not exceed the equivalent of four years full time research training.

Salary
The salary for PhD students is based on the department’s salary scale.
