Skilled and committed employees are a crucial factor in the success of Linköping University. And we need more of them. Our core expertise comes from teachers and researchers, but a successful university requires experienced and motivated employees in many fields. Everyone is important. We need to recruit many new employees thanks to, among all, an expansion in our research activity. We need you here. We look forward to receiving your application!

The department of Electrical Engineering (ISY) is central to the engineering education at the Institute of Technology, one of four faculties at Linköping University, and this regards both basic and applied knowledge. The research is based on industrial needs, and ranges from basic research to direct application in collaboration projects.

LINKÖPING UNIVERSITY
Hereby advertises a position as

Postdoc in Processing architectures for beyond 5G communications
formally based at the Department of Electrical Engineering

Duties
In the Division of Computer Engineering at the Department of Electrical Engineering we perform research about efficient processing architectures for, among others, mobile communication. The introduction of 5G brought along a number of disruptive technology changes, e.g., massive MIMO. In addition, the same system defines a large variety of use cases with increased bandwidth, reduced latency and/or increased number of simultaneous users, all at an expected reduced energy cost. The ongoing development and research in expected to lead to even more stringent requirements on all these parameters in future systems. As such, efficient processing architectures are key enabler to be able to handle this. There are several different areas that can be of interest, but one area where there is already ongoing research at the group is for massive machine-type communication.

The position is funded by the ELLIIT strategic research environment, https://old.liu.se/elliit?l=en and it is expected that the successful candidate attends the annual workshops and presents the outcomes. There is a close collaboration with the Division of Communication Systems where new algorithms and techniques are developed.

A Postdoc will essentially carry out research. The position may also involve teaching, but during no more than a fifth of work time. The duties may also include, if deemed relevant, engaging in PhD supervision and contributing to PhD courses.

Qualifications
The applicant should have a strong background in least one of: dedicated and/or programmable processing architectures, communication signal processing, and arithmetic circuits. In addition, the applicant should have experience with HDL (VHDL and/or Verilog) and logic synthesis (FPGA and/or ASIC). Scholarly proficiency must have been demonstrated through original research resulting in publications in internationally recognized journals and conferences. The applicant should be able to work effectively both individually and together with other researchers.

Very good communication skills and very good knowledge of English, both verbal and written, are expected.

The position requires a doctorate degree or a foreign degree that is equivalent to a doctorate. The doctorate degree shall have been obtained no longer than three years before the expiration date of the application and be in relevant fields of electrical or computer engineering.

Appointment time
A Postdoc is appointed until further notice, but for no longer than two years. The appointment can be renewed if there are special reasons.

Starting date
By agreement.

Salary
The University applies individual salary scales adapted to the experience of the employee and to the labour market.
