The position

The rise of high throughput molecular technologies has shed lights on the development of next-generation molecular diagnostics and biomarkers for patient stratifications in the precision medicine era. There is an urgent need to develop new systematic tools to combine multi-omics data and link genotype to phenotype to expand our knowledge of complex traits of human diseases.

We are seeking an enthusiastic candidate with documented experience and a strong research interest in Data-Driven Precision Medicine and Systems Biology. The candidate will focus on the construction of multi-scale molecular health and disease network and develop AI-based analytical infrastructures to inform precision medicine-based decision support. To be qualified for an employment as research engineer , you must have been awarded a doctoral degree or have a foreign degree that is deemed to be equivalent to a doctoral degree. This degree must have been awarded at the latest by the point at which LiU makes its decision to employ you.

The person we need

We expect you to have a Ph.D. in genetics or bioinformatics.

And the following experience and knowledge:

  • Good programming skills (R and python)
  • Practical experience with statistical analyses
  • Practical experience with genetic analyses
  • Practical experience with multi-omics analyses (transcriptomics, proteomics, metabolomics)
  • Good knowledge in English, both written and spoken

It is considered advantageous if your doctoral degree is no older than three years at application deadline for this job.

As a person, you are confident and stable, with self-awareness. You have the ability to work hard and put energy and commitment into your work. Furthermore, we see that you have good cooperation skills and work in a structured way.

The workplace

You will work at the Division of Cell and Neurobiology and belong to Wen Zhong’s research group. You will involve collaborative work within an environment of doctoral and post-doctoral students, principal research engineers and experienced clinicians. Advanced modern facilities and resources, including Berzelius HPC system, a 300-petaflop NVIDIA SuperPOD resource, multi-omics platforms and bioinformatics infrastructures are fully accessed to facilitate the development of data-driven computational tools.

You will work at the Department of Biomedical and Clinical Sciences (BKV), which is one of the university's largest departments with operations primarily within the Faculty of Medicine. Our goal is to conduct education and research in medicine and biomedicine, with high international quality. At BKV you will find leading research with both cutting edge and breadth within a large spectrum of modern biomedicine.
