The Department of Political Science is a dynamic and strong education and research department at the Faculty of Social Sciences at Stockholm University. The Department aims to be nationally leading and internationally prominent within its field of research and education.
The position is part of the research project – ”Renegotiated civil and military boundaries - Turning government communicators into online agents of cyber warfare”, financed by the Swedish Research Council. The project studies how government communicators in four European countries handle fake news in complex policy fields with many stakeholders. The successful applicant will be part of a small team of researchers at Stockholm University and the Stockholm School of Economics.
The researcher will be responsible for data collection, data analysis, conducting interviews and co-authoring a conference paper and a research article. The position will also entail some teaching depending on previous teaching experience (between 10 and 20 percent).
Researchers are appointed primarily for purposes of research and must hold a Swedish doctoral degree or an equivalent degree from another country.
Applicants must hold a doctoral degree in political science or in an adjacent discipline. A successful candidate will have two or several of the following skills:
- A strong background in qualitative methods which is shown by the applicant’s research.
- Knowledge of computer-based programs for textual analysis.
- Experience of conducting interviews.
- Documented ability to work in a research team.
- Documented ability to write good academic English.
In the appointment process, special emphasis will be placed on the applicant’s experience of qualitative methods and documented ability to work in a research team. Emphasis will also be placed on the applicant´s research experience on studying security policy discourses or public administration.
Terms of employment
The position involves full-time employment for a maximum of one year. Start date as per agreement.
