The Department of Psychology is one of the biggest departments at the Faculty of Social Sciences with about 200 employees and over 1000 students. Research at the department is conducted within six divisions and two research institutes. 

Project description
The position is a 2-year position and will be connected to a research project designated to investigate the neural dynamics of social (associative) threat learning and regulation and how these processes are influenced by individual differences in exposure to early-life stress. The project is led by Associate Professor Armita Golkar and the research is supported by the Swedish Research Council and Knut and Alice Wallenberg Foundation (Wallenberg Academy Fellow grant).

Main responsibilities
We are looking for a committed and ambitious candidate with documented experience of designing and programming experiments, and analyzing brain-imaging and psychophysiological data. As a researcher in the group, you will have the opportunity to develop your own research ideas within the areas of social learning and regulation.

You will also have the possibility to supervise PhD and Master students. Your main responsibilities include design and implementation of experiments, analysis of neuroimaging data and psychophysiological data, and dissemination of the results. We have access to state-of-the-art 3-Tesla MRI scanner at Stockholm University Brain imaging center (SUBIC).

Qualification requirements
Researchers are appointed primarily for purposes of research and must hold a Swedish doctoral degree or an equivalent degree from another country.

Assessment criteria
In the appointment process, special attention will be given to research skills. Documented experience of designing and programming experiments, analyzing MR and psychophysiological data is a requirement. Previous research on associative threat and safety learning and/or reinforcement learning is a merit. The applicant also needs to have a documented ability to work independently as well as in collaboration.

Terms of employment
This is a full-time, indefinite-term position with a six-month trial period. Start date 2024-09-01 or as per agreement.
