The Department of Archaeology and Classical Studies is one of the largest archaeological environment in Sweden. It consists of six sections: Archaeology, Stockholm Numismatic Institute, the Archaeological Research Laboratory, the Osteoarchaeological Research Laboratory, Classical Archaeology and Ancient History, and Centre for paleogenetics. Both research and education at the Department comprise different areas and time periods.

The Archaeological Research Laboratory is looking for a laboratory assistant within the project Archlab.

Main responsibilities
Main responsibilities are chemical and biological analyses of archaeological materials. Further, daily maintenance in the laboratory, running the different instrumentation and be of technical assistance to researchers, postgraduate and undergraduate students with chemical and biological analyses of archaeological source materials. It is also expected that the laboratory assistant participates in the daily activities at the Archaeological Research Laboratory.

Qualification requirements
We are looking for someone with a master degree in a relevant area, chemistry, biology or physics and with documented experience of laboratory work. Experience from work with archeological artefacts, archaeological methods is an advantage. We value collaborative and analytical skills, ability to work independently as well as a well-developed sense of responsibility and service mindedness. The applicant needs a well-developed ability to communicate.

Terms of employment
This is a full-time, indefinite-term position with a six-month trial period. Salaries at Stockholm University are determined individually; therefore, please indicate your requested salary. Starting date: September 1, 2024.
