Genom Barbro Oshers Pro Suecia Foundation har Chalmers möjlighet att stödja forskares vistelse vid universitet i USA. Sedan hösten 2017 kan medlen även användas till stipendier för att täcka studieavgifter för amerikanska studenters mastersstudier på Chalmers. Bidrag från Chalmers alumner i USA via ”U.S. Friends of Chalmers” var en viktig grund för denna uppskattade donation.

Ändamål: Stöd till Chalmersforskares forskningsvistelser vid universitet i USA.

Forskare som vill utveckla sin forskning genom ny inspiration eller styra in den på nya banor, kan söka stöd för forskningsomkostnader i samband med vistelse hos samarbetskollegor vid universitet i USA. Medel kan sökas för vistelse i USA i max ett år, vistelsen kan dock delas upp i flera kortare perioder.

Med forskningsomkostnader avses exempelvis boende, reskostnader, försäkring och fördyrade levnadsomkostnader. Institutionen där forskaren är anställd förväntas stå för forskarens lönekostnader.

Den sökande skall vara anställd vid Chalmers, antingen som senior forskare, doktorand eller post doc. En senior forskare, professor eller docent, kan söka medel för en doktorand eller post doc i sin forskargrupp om det finns en tydlig nytta för gruppen som helhet. Vid beslut om stöd kommer stort avseende att fästas vid öppenhet för samarbete med andra grupper inom Chalmers samt en långsiktig plan för samarbete med värdlärosätet.
Alla utbetalningar sker genom Chalmers tekniska högskola AB och Chalmers tjänsterese-reglemente tillämpas för ökade levnadsomkostnader.

Ansökan
• Skall vara tillstyrkt av prefekt (för doktorander krävs även ett godkännande av handledare)
• Skall omfatta en kort beskrivning och motivering (ca 1 A4-sida) av syftet samt en specificerad kostnadsbudget.
• Kan avse kostnader för en eller flera personer.

Fonden behandlar ansökningar löpande under året.

Ambitionen är att ge stöd till minst fem forskare varje år.

Through the Barbro Osher Pro Suecia Foundation Chalmers' researchers can apply for funding to spend some time at a university in the United States. Since the autumn of 2017 funds can also be used for scholarshipscovering the tuition fee for US students', studying for a master's degree at Chalmers. A contribution from Chalmers alumni in the United States via "U.S. Friends of Chalmers" served as a foundation for this much appriciated donation.

This foundation is aimed at researchers who, in collaboration with leading research environments and colleagues at prominent universities in the US, wish to develop their research by finding new inspiration or guiding it along new paths. They can apply for funding to cover costs while spending time in the UA. The costs supported by the foundation are research costs, as well as accommodation and travel expenses up to 12 months.
The department at which the researcher is employed will cover the researcher's regular salary costs.

The applicant should hold a PhD, be employed at Chalmers and lead an established research group, including PhD students as well as other co-workers. Another researcher, PhD student, or post doc in the group can do the travelling, but there has to be a clear benefit to the entire group. In the decision process, considerable weight will be given to the openness to collaboration with other groups at Chalmers as well as a clear plan for continued collaboration with the counterpart in the US. The application can include one or more people. The research period can be up to 12 months, possibly divided into several stays.
The goal is to grant funds to a minimum of five researchers each year. You may apply at any time during the year.

The application should include a short presentation of the exchange and the aims (one A4 page) as well as a budget showing how the funds will be used. It must be approved by the Head of Department (for doctoral students, a supervisor's approval is also required). It can cover costs for one or more people.
