The Department of Molecular and Clinical Medicine, at the Institute of Medicine, conducts translational research primarily on metabolism, diabetes, obesity and cardiovascular disease in order to improve health and healthcare in the community. The overall goal is to create an excellent translational research environment of a very high international standard.

Duties 

The successful candidate will be expected to coordinate and drive research projects focusing on cardiac metabolism and the link between lipid metabolism and mitochondrial energy metabolism. The project will combine in vitro, in vivo and genetic studies. The candidate is expected to compile and process results, write manuscripts and applications.

Qualifications 

Candidates must have a PhD in biology, medicine or natural sciences (or equivalent). Candidates are expected to have a good command of scientific English and good general communication skills in English, both oral and written.

Significant and long-standing expertise in working with genetically modified mice (phenotypic cardiac characterization including ultrasound analysis of cardiac function), in vitro studies with primary and stable cell lines and establishment of primary cell cultures of cardiomyocytes, and advanced studies with Agilent Seahorse XF are requirements for the position. The candidate must have a strong background in cell signalling and biochemistry and master a wide variety of techniques related to these fields.
