The Department of Law at the University of Gothenburg conducts research within a broad range of areas, including environmental law and law of the sea from an international, regional and national perspective. More information about the department is available here.

Duties 

We are looking for an assistant researcher who will work on a project entitled: ”Smart Port Enforcement: The Prevention of Marine Pollution by Algorithm” 

The primary task is to analyze the Swedish legal preconditions for deploying unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and unmanned underwater vehicles (UUVs) in a marine context. UAVs and UUVs are becoming popular monitoring and enforcement tools for protecting the environment and their deployment could strengthen enforcement jurisdiction. The analysis includes legal sources and contact with authorities.

Qualifications 

The successful applicant must hold a master’s degree in law or near completion and have an interest in environmental law. Furthermore, the application must be fluent in both English and Swedish. In the assessment, consideration will be given to personal ability and qualifications. We place great emphasis on personal suitability.

Employment 

The employment is limited (temporary) for 6 months at 80-100% with placement at the Department of law. First day of employment as agreed.
