The department of Computer Science and Engineering is a fully integrated department with the University of Gothenburg and Chalmers University of Technology as principles. The department offer courses in a broad range of subjects.

The department is looking for amanuens/teaching assistant for Girls Code Club, a three-week bootcamp, given during June-July 2024. Girls Code Club aims to give girls at gymnasium level a first experience in programming and data analysis using Python. Girls Code Clubs main language of instruction will be English, but we aim for providing help in both Swedish and English. The bootcamp will take place both on campus Johanneberg and campus Lindholmen, Gothenburg.

Job assignments

As amanuens/teaching assistant during Girls Code Club you will help girls at gymnasium level to understand how to use programming to solve problems, and how to then implement those solutions using Python. This implies both discussing in a classroom how problems could be solved and supervising the girls in the computer room when working with Python. During the bootcamp you will have regular contact with the teachers to plan the daily activities.

Qualifications

To be qualified for the position you are an active student at bachelor or master level, preferably studying in one of the department’s BSc or MSc level programmes at the University of Gothenburg or Chalmers University of Technology. Alternatively, you should have successfully completed a previous Girls Code Club bootcamp. You should be knowledgeable in Python and have a genuine interest in helping students to enter the world of programming. To be qualified for the position you should also have good knowledge in English, both written and spoken.
