The Department of Economy and Society announces 1-2 position/s as Associate Senior Lecturer located at the Unit of Innovation and entrepreneurship. The department conducts education and research within three different subject areas; Economic History, Human Geography, and Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Management of Intellectual Assets. The different subjects within the department create possibilities to carry out interdisciplinary education and research. The unit for innovation and entrepreneurship offers single-subject courses at the Bachelor´s level, two Master´s programmes (MSc in Innovation and Industrial Management; MSc in Knowledge-based Entrepreneurship), and doctoral education. The position/s are an important recruitment to our international center and on-going international research projects. Subject area description
Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Management of Intellectual Assets is a subject to analyse and explain innovation and entrepreneurship processes; their determinants; and social and economic outcomes.
Work tasks
Appointment as associate senior lecturer is the first step in an early career promotion system at the university. The purpose of this type of position is that the teacher should be given the opportunity to develop his or her independence as a researcher, both scientifically and pedagogically, in order to meet the requirements for eligibility to be promoted to a position as a senior lecturer.
This position/s constitutes approximately 50% teaching/other administrative tasks and 50% research. The position/s is full time, and as defined in the national labour market agreements, a minimum of 50% is allocated to research. The applicant is expected to actively apply for external research funding. The teaching is conducted both at basic and advanced levels within the subject area of innovation, entrepreneurship, and management of intellectual assets.
Teaching at the unit is conducted in both English and Swedish.
Eligibility and Qualifications
Qualifications and procedures for the employment of teaching staff is set forth in Chapter 4, Sections 3–4 of the Swedish Higher Education Ordinance; in the University of Gothenburg's appointments procedure; and in the Appointment Regulations for Teaching Staff at the School of Business, Economics and Law, University of Gothenburg.
To be eligible for appointment as associate senior lecturer, the candidate must have obtained a doctoral degree or have equivalent scholarly expertise and have demonstrated teaching expertise. Preference is given to candidates who were awarded their doctoral degree or achieved equivalent competence no more than five years prior to the application deadline for this position. Candidates who have completed a PhD degree/equivalent more than 5 years ago may still be eligible, for reasons given in the national regulation, where documented special grounds for exemptions exist including illness, parental leave, and equivalent circumstances such as duties in military, union and student organisations (see Swedish regulations).
Specific eligibility requirements for this position are a PhD degree/equivalent scientific competence within the subject area of Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Management of Intellectual Assets, or a Swedish or international PhD degree which is judged as equivalent. High proficiency in English, in both writing and speech/teaching are required.

We are looking for 1-2 person/s with documented good experience and expertise in conducting teaching in innovation and entrepreneurship and in conducting research about innovation, entrepreneurship and industrial management as well as in conducting research on innovation and entrepreneurship from a Schumpeterian perspective. An important ground for assessment is personal suitability and a high capacity to collaborate. You should be able to work independently as well as in a team.
Qualified is the person who masters a very high level of English in speech and writing. The level of proficiency defined here corresponds to at a minimum CEFR Nivå C1. Mastery of Swedish language has an extra merit value, specifically CEFR Nivå C1. Applicants who are not native speakers will be expected to learn Swedish, which corresponds to CEFR Nivå C1 during the time of employment.
Employment
The employment is a temporary position, during 4 years with an extent of 100% of full time, located at the Unit of Innovation & entrepreneurship, Department of Economy and Society, University of Gothenburg, Gothenburg. Starting date is 2022-12-01 or upon agreement.
An associate senior lecturer who is employed in accordance with Chapter 4, Section 12 of the Higher Education Ordinance can apply according to defined procedures, to be promoted to senior lecturer. After 3,5 years, the assessment of the applicant includes both scientific and pedagogical competencies, to be at the level of Associate professor ("docent") or close to the level. If the applicant is evaluated as suitable for the post and also qualified according to the defined requirements, including also the Swedish language requirement (CEFR Nivå C), then he/she can be promoted to senior university lecturer.
The application for promotion must be received no later than six months before the expiration of the post as associate senior lecturer.
Selection process
An external assessment procedure will be carried out by external experts. During the selection process can also include interviews, written tests, trial lectures and reference checks.
