The department of Mathematicatl Sciences at the University of Gothenburg and Chalmers University of Technology is one of the largest departments of mathematical sciences in the Nordic countries with about 200 employees. The department comprises the three divisions Algebra and Geometry, Analysis and Probability Theory, and Applied Mathematics and Statistics.

For academic year 2021/22 we are looking for up to seven people to our guest teacher program. We especially turn to you with plans for a continued academic career in mathematics or mathematical statistics and need teaching experience. As a member of our guest teacher program, you have pedagogical and practical support in your teaching of a mentor and have the opportunity to take courses in teaching and learning in higher education. You will also be part of the strong research environment that is available at the Department of Mathematical Sciences at the University of Gothenburg and Chalmers.

Subject area description
The tasks will be in mathematics or mathematical statistics with applications mainly in engineering and natural sciences.
Job assignments
Department of Mathematical Sciences at Chalmers and the University of Gothenburg is seeking up to seven guest lecturers in mathematics and mathematical statistics.
The duties consist mainly of teaching in either mathematics or in mathematical statistics. The teaching will include course responsibility and will primarily be at bachelor level.
Course responsibility includes planning and conducting teaching, to do the examination, to be responsible for information and communication in connection with it, and to be responsible for the teaching assistants in the course.
Teaching at bachelor level is in Swedish, so you have to be able to teach in Swedish.
Eligibility
The qualifications for academic positions are given in Chapter 4, Section 3 - 4 of the Higher Education Ordinance. We expect that you have a PhD in mathematics, applied mathematics or mathematical statistics or equivalent scientific qualifications relevant to the subject area and the assignments. That you are able to teach in Swedish is a requirement.
Assessment
We will assess your academic qualifications and potential together with abilities of importance for the tasks. Of importance is that you can communicate well in speech and writing, collaborate, inspire and engage students and take own responsibility for the tasks.

Extent: 100 % for 12 months

First day of employment: August 1 2021 (or by agreement)
Appointment procedure
The assessment process will be based on the statement from references and interviews with applicants. The assessment of qualifications and experience will take into account the personal circumstances (such as parental leave).
