At the Department of Rheumatology and Inflammation Research, at the Institute of Medicine, the main research areas are inflammation and inflammatory diseases irrespective of whether they are caused by allergies, infections or are autoimmune diseases. The aim is to investigate the underpinning mechanisms behind the inflammation. Several of our researchers also work as senior consultants at the clinics at Sahlgrenska University Hospital, which is a great advantage especially for translational research.

Within the department, Maglio's group researches the interplay between metabolism and the development of rheumatic diseases with a specific focus on rheumatoid arthritis and systemic sclerosis

Duties

Qualifications

We are seeking a highly motivated candidate with a university degree in biotechnology, cell biology, or a closely related field.

The successful applicant is expected to have solid theoretical knowledge and hands-on experience in molecular and cell biology, including laboratory work with human fibroblasts. Prior research experience in rheumatic or metabolic diseases is required. Previous experience with mitochondrial transplantation and confocal microscopy–based cell imaging is meritorious.

The position requires strong skills in experimental design and clear, structured presentation of results in group settings. Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment are essential. Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability.
