The Department of Psychology has around 160 employees, and conducts extensive research and education in interaction with society. The research conducted has been rated as excellent by international reviewers, and the number of students applying for programs and elective courses is very high. The Department of Psychology is recruiting one, or possibly several, senior lecturers in psychology with a focus on neuropsychology
Duties and responsibilities
Duties will include teaching, research and interaction with society in the subject area of neuropsychology. Duties consist mainly of teaching and tutoring at first and second cycle free-standing courses and in the psychology programme, as well as commissioned and specialist courses. Teaching in other areas of psychology may be included, as well as course coordination and development. Teaching in English may be required. The position includes professional development and administration in accordance with the current working time agreement and local guidelines. As externally funded research is an important prerequisite for the department as well as for individual teachers' research, actively participating in the department's efforts to find external funding is required. Moreover collaborating with colleagues in order to develop the area of neuropsychology within the department is also required.
The proportion of research and teaching is regulated individually based on local employment policy. Duties and responsibilities also include active participation in the further development of the department. Administrative and managerial tasks might also be included.
Qualified for employment are those who have completed a doctoral degree or have equivalent scientific competence and have demonstrated good teaching skills. Applicants must also have completed pedagogical training for higher education, 15 credits or the equivalent, or complete this within one year from the time of employment. Applicants who do not master the Swedish language are expected to acquire language skills sufficient for carrying out the basic duties within two years.

In selecting eligible applicants, the best candidate will be chosen on the basis of an overall assessment of his/her ability to carry out and develop the duties described above. In the assessment, scientific and pedagogical skills will be given equal weight. A broad expertise, encompassing several of the subfields of neuropsychology such as skills within the area of functional neuroanatomy and neuropsychological methodology is an asset. Knowledge within applied/clinical neuropsychology are particularly desirable.
In the assessment of scientific competence, particular emphasis will be given to research in neuropsychology. and that scientific qualifications are up to date. Publication in international journals is an advantace, as well as having received and currently holding external research funding.
Experience and skill in academic teaching and supervision should be well documented and verified. Demonstrated ability to teach in English, writing of teaching materials of high quality and documented development of courses or training modules as well as experience of course coordination is also desirable.
A Swedish psychologist’s license is an advantage.
Good ability to communicate clearly, structured and pedagogically, spoken as well as written is required. In addition, personal qualities such as accuracy and flexibility, and proven ability to take responsibility as well as to cooperate with others will also be taken into account.
The selection process may include interviews, sample lectures and reference checks. In interviews, the applicants will be given the opportunity to describe and develop their own approach to teaching and research in the field of neuropsychology, as well as their future role at the department. These factors will also be included as a basis for the assessment when appropriate.
