The Department of Economics belongs to the School of Business, Economics and Law at University of Gothenburg and has around 100 employees from several countries. The teaching within the department is economics and statistics and the department has around 800 students registered at courses and programs. A diversity of researchers are located at the department where several of them are internationally well known economists. Job assignments

The assignments include structuring and analysis of big and complex data in a research project within the scope of FRAM (FRAM – Centre for Future Chemical Risk Assessment and Management Strategies, www.fram.gu.se). The aim of the research project is to develop incentives to reduce the amount of chemical pollution. The purpose of the employment is, among other things, to establish computer-based analytical methods to investigate patterns of publication. This means implementing necessary software in order to combine data from different databases, statistically analyze data, and to draw conclusions based on the result.

Qualifications

The applicant should hold a master’s degree in computer science, mathematics, statistics or informatics. Good knowledge in programming and fundamental knowledge in statistics are required. Previous experience of analyzing complex datasets of chemical substances with Python/PERL in a Linux environment is required. Good knowledge in Swedish or English in speech and writing is also a requirement for the position.

Since the candidate will work close to research, the applicant’s collaboration skills, as well as ability to take initiative, organize and work independently, will be given weight.

Employment

The employment is a temporary employment during 9 months with an extent of 100%, located at the Department of Economics, University of Gothenburg. Starting date is 2021-01-05 or upon agreement.
