We are looking for   

Teaching assistant for the bachelor program in Criminology at Health and Society, Malmö university.    

Work duties   

The duties include, among other things, assisting teachers in seminars, workshops, and statistical labs, and providing students with support in formulating research questions, scientific writing, communicating in English and conducting literature searches in the university's databases.

Qualifications   

Only those admitted to first or second-cycle courses and study programmes may be employed as teaching assistants (Chapter 5, Section 10 of the Higher Education Ordinance). 

In addition to formal competence, University employees must possess the personal capacities necessary to perform the duties of the position well and to represent the University in the best possible way.   

Specific requirements for this position:   

  • Applicant are required to be registered at the master’s programme in Criminology at Malmö University.
  • Good knowledge in research methodology and criminology theory.
  • Good knowledge in scientific writing.
  • Very good knowledge in English.
  • Be interested in supporting other students in their learning process.   

The following would be of benefit for the position:   

  • Experience of systematic literature reviews.
  • Supportive and understanding of students with different language/English skills.
  • Good planning and collaboration skills. 

Faculty, Department and Research environment   

The faculty has programmes and courses in fields including nursing, biomedicine, criminology, sexology, disability and rehabilitation science, and social work. Most courses lead up to a professional exam, but there is also the option of further studies at master's level in most subjects.

Both medical and social sciences research is conducted at the faculty, and there are a large number of research teams in biomedical science, sexology, criminology and social exclusion. Our research is multifaceted and has a close connection with society and the world of business and industry. The department provides education in criminology at bachelor's and master's levels, both in the form of programmes and independent courses.

The research conducted in the field of criminology at Malmö University has a broad focus. We conduct research on, among other topics, why some people become offenders or victims, why some places have more crime than others, and what can be done about it.

Miscellaneous
