Priority for re-employment

If you have been made redundant due to a shortage of work or if your fixed-term contract under Section 5 of the Employment Protection Act (LAS) has come to an end, you are, under certain conditions, entitled to priority for re-employment. You will have received information about this in a written notice from your employer.

The conditions for being entitled to priority for re-employment are, in addition to having completed the required period of service as set out below, that you request to be re-employed (claiming priority) and that you have sufficient qualifications for the new position.

What are the requirements for the right of priority to re-employment?

If you have previously been employed at Malmö University and are claiming priority for re-employment, the following rules apply:

If you have been employed for more than twelve months in the last three years, you are eligible to apply for all vacant positions (both permanent and fixed-term positions) for which you have the necessary qualifications.

If you have been employed on a special fixed-term contract (SÄVA) for more than nine months in the last three years, you are eligible to apply for all vacant special fixed-term positions for which you have sufficient qualifications.

Decisions on new employment are based on the rules regarding merit and skill. If you turn down a job offer that is considered reasonable, you lose your right of priority.

Who is eligible to claim priority for re-employment?

Your notice of termination will state whether you are entitled to priority for re-employment. You are entitled to priority from the date you received your notice of termination until nine months after your last day of employment.

You may claim your right to priority at any time during the period in which it applies.

Remove entitlement to priority for re-employment

If you wish to withdraw your claim to priority for re-employment, please inform the HR department. If you choose to be removed from this list, you will no longer be considered an applicant for vacant positions based on your registration.
