The Division of Computer Science at the Department of Computer Science, Electrical and Space Engineering at Luleå University of Technology is looking for a senior lecturer in the field of Computer Science. The division has about 50 employed researchers, teachers and doctoral students who together research and teach in computer science and engineering, computer communication, distributed computing and cloud computing for various applications in areas such as manufacturing and game development.

Your placement will initially be in distributed computing systems, but you will also work closely with other subjects such as cybersecurity, communication and computational systems, cyber-physical systems and information systems. You will initially support our teaching, mainly within our engineering programs (Bachelor of Science and Master of Science in Engineering) in the main field of study Computer Science and Engineering in Luleå and our Bachelor's programs (Computer Game Development and Computer Graphics) in the main field of study Media Technology in Skellefteå as well as our contract education.

Subject description
Distributed computing includes computing systems and mobile networks that enable the mobility, ambience, security, and interactivity of computers, data, software, and users.

Duties
As senior lecturer, duties include both research and education, where the short-term need is predominantly in education. You will therefore, together with other teachers, be responsible for the development of the subject in both research and education at basic, advanced and doctoral levels, and be involved in the development of our various educational programs and courses. Depending on your qualifications, you will be responsible for courses and modules in areas such as programming, algorithms, distributed computing and their applications. You will also be given the opportunity to research and supervise doctoral students in Pervasive and Pervasive Computing and related subjects, as well as contribute to both collaboration and management at the department. The position also includes applying for, leading, and collaborating in research projects, as well as communicating and disseminating research results.

You have a background in one of these areas:

  • Computer science including algorithms
  • Distributed Software Systems
  • Programming and Software Engineering
  • Computer Game Development and Media Technology Applications

Eligibility
To be eligible for employment as a senior lecturer, the applicant must have demonstrated both research expertise and teaching expertise. Equal care will be given to the assessment of teaching and research expertise.

To meet the requirements for appointment as a senior lecturer, the applicant must have:

  • Have been awarded a PhD or have equivalent research expertise
  • Demonstrated teaching expertise
  • Completed training in teaching and learning in higher education equivalent to 7.5 credits, or have acquired equivalent knowledge in some other way
