Assistant in High Capacity Vehicles with ELectrically PropellEd Dolly

Electrification of heavy road transports is a way forward for climate, energy and emissions. Electrification can be made on the trucks but also on the trailing units! This enables quicker migration by enabling hybridization of the total combination vehicles. This position is within a project which studies electrification of the converter dolly, used to carry the front end of a semi-trailer.

Information about the division and department

The position is in the Vehicle Dynamics group at division Vehicle Engineering and Autonomous Systems (VEAS) at department Mechanics and Maritime Sciences (https://www.chalmers.se/en/departments/m2/). The group does education and research within vehicle motion engineering for road vehicles, mainly with vehicle manufacturers as stakeholders.

The position is within the project High Capacity Vehicles with ELectrically PropellEd Dolly (HELPED).

Job description
The assistant will work with researchers, Chalmers vehicle lab Revere, and Volvo Truck to perform tests with full-scale vehicles on test track. This includes both practical work and log data analysis. The assistant will also do modelling and simulation. The results will be used as part of an application of a PhD project within the research area.

Contract terms
Temporary employment.

Qualifications
Master of Science within Mechanical, Mechatronics or similar. Also master students in the end of their master education can apply. Suitable MSc programmes are, e.g., Automotive engineering and Control systems. You need to communicate well in English. Swedish is meritorious. Meritorious is also knowledge about heavy vehicles, especially articulated such, and experience from simulation and/or testing.
