Information about the research group and the research
The Müller Research Group focuses on the physical chemistry and materials science of organic semiconductors, polymer blends and composites, and develops new plastic materials for energy technologies ranging from organic solar cells and thermoelectrics to power cables.  All research is conducted in co-operation with other universities/institutes and/or industry. Presently, the Müller Research Group consists of 1 Professor, 1 Research Staff, 3 Postdocs, 8 PhD students and several Master students.

Conjugated polymers with oligo ethylene glycol side chains currently receive considerable attention because they are of interest for a range of branches of organic electronics, from thermoelectrics and energy storage to bioelectronics. Our group currently studies molecular doping of these materials where the polarity of the side chain benefits both miscibility and stability.

Your task will be to design, synthesise and characterise new conjugated polymers with polar side chains. Further, you will work with several PhD students in our group, as well as with several external collaborators, and together study the mechanical, electrical and electrochemical properties of your materials when combined with different types of dopants.

Major responsibilities
The majority of your working time is devoted to your own research, in collaboration with other postdocs and students in our group, as well as collaborating groups. In addition, you are expected support and mentor the PhD students in our group that work on related topics. As a Postdoc you are expected to develop your own ideas and communicate scientific results orally as well as in writing.

Another important aspect involves collaboration within academia and with society at large. The position is meritorious for future research duties within academia as well as industry/the public sector.

Position summary
Full-time temporary employment. The position is limited to a maximum of two years (1+1).

Qualifications
We are looking for a highly motivated Postdoc to join our research group at Chalmers. You must have a PhD degree in Chemistry, Materials Science, or equivalent with a focus on both the synthesis and characterisation of conjugated polymers. Previous experience with thermoelectrics and molecular doping is a merit.

You should be highly proficient with characterisation tools such as NMR, FTIR and SEC/GPC. Experience with techniques such as thermal analysis (DSC, TGA), X-ray diffraction (WAXS, SAXS), optical microscopy, AFM, SEM, TEM, rheometry and DMA is a merit. Due to the interdisciplinary nature of the work you must have excellent collaboration skills. A very good capability of communicating scientific results in English, both orally and in writing is required.
