Project Manager

At SSC, we provide our customers access to Space. With over 700 employees around the world, we provide expert-level competence in customer support including the design, test, launch, in-orbit and routine operations of flight and space systems. To achieve this, SSC Connect uses our global network of ground systems and multi-mission antennas to provide satellite management, data downlink, antenna hosting and launch support to some of the largest names in the space industry including NASA, ESA, JAXA and many other New Space customers as well.

YOUR ROLE

We are looking for a Project Manager who will be responsible for leading and coordinating customer-specific implementations of our systems within our Launch and Early Orbit Phase (LEOP). The team focuses on supporting our customer through the initial, mission critical stage,e.g when the satellite is released into orbit by the launch vehicle, as well as lancher tracking, critical maneuvers  during commission phase, orbital racing or in-orbit drift. .

Your main responsibilities will include:

• Developing detailed project plans in collaboration with the project team, based on customer contracts and scope of work.
• Managing the project team, dispersed across different geographical locations, to fulfill project commitments and ensure a smooth handover to the customer and SSC Operations for ongoing support.
• Effectively handling project-related risks and implementing escalation and risk mitigation actions as needed.
• Following SSC processes to ensure project quality through monitoring and control of project schedule, costs, and scope from initiation to closure.
• Providing regular reporting to customers and key stakeholders.

As a Project Manager, you will also drive improvement initiatives, mentor other project managers in best practices, provide training to colleagues, and collaborate with other teams to achieve a common understanding of the requirements for cost-effective projects.

In addition to external projects, you may also be responsible for internal projects such as system development, improvement initiatives and lead specialized teams to address ongoing deliveries. For these projects, your role may include identifying significant deviations, assembling cross-functional teams, defining action plans, monitoring progress, and providing regular reporting to customers and key stakeholders.

 WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW 

• We expect you to have a technical degree (engineering, etc.).
• You know how to work proactively with risk management.
• You are very comfortable communicating in English, both written and spoken.

BONUS POINTS

• Experience of working with project towards agencies e.g. ESA, JAXA, NASA.
• Experience from agile scrum process or software.
• Knowledge of Contract Management.
• Experience from working with the following tools:
     - Jira
     - MS Project
     - MS SharePoint
     - MS Office
